Ozone therapy is a non-traditional form of cancer treatment that is usually used in ischemic medical problems. It is currently being studied as a treatment for cancer.
One research article (1) indicated that, when a cancerous tumor is hypoxic, it is less resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The study looked at 18 patients with cancer who were given ozone therapy along with their regular treatments for cancer.
The ozone was given systemically, meaning that it was directly introduced into the blood. They measured the oxygenation of the patient’s tumor before and after the ozone treatments and found that there was very little change in the oxygenation of the participants’ tumor. This was an extremely small study so research on a large number of patients is needed to see if ozone therapy could work on cancer patients.
