Gingerol inhibits Growth of Colon Cancer

Gingerol is a natural component of ginger. It is reported to have anti-inflammatory abilities and seems to be able to fight cancerous tumors.

One research article (1) looked into the use of gingerol as a treatment for colorectal cancer. It noted that the mechanism of action of gingerol has not been established. The article discussed the ability of ginger to fight colon cancer. The researchers determined that gingerol significantly lessened the viability of colon cancer cells.

The study was an in vitro study, meaning that no animals or humans were used in the study. More research needs to be done to see if gingerol is helpful against humans with colon cancer.
