The Green Tea Ingredient Against Cancer

EGCG stands for epigallocatechin gallate and is an important antioxidant of green tea.

For rapid growth, every tumor needs blood vessels that transport nutrients and oxygen to the cells. EGCG inhibits the growth of cancer cells by preventing the tumor from producing new blood vessels. It also inhibits important growth factors within the cancer cell.

EGCG also activates a self-destruction mechanism within the cancer cell. This mechanism is typically deactivated and gives the cancer cell a survival advantage.

The formation of metastases is one of the biggest problems of any tumor therapy. EGCG can prevent both metastasis and tumor growth into the surrounding.

EGCG is also able to increase the effectiveness of most chemotherapeutic agents.

Besides, EGCG is useful in cancer prevention. It inhibits the development of cancer by protecting our genes (DNA) from damage.

Studies show that EGCG is effective on the following cancers: Colorectal cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer, uterine cancer, breast cancer, oral cancer, liver cancer, bladder cancer, osteosarcoma, nasopharyngeal cancer, and kidney cancer.

Oral food supplements with EGCG are only supportive and should only be used for cancer aftercare, but not as therapy. High doses are necessary for effective treatment. We, therefore, recommend to use EGCG only intravenously.
