Artemisinin / Artesunate

How Important Is Artemisinin In Cancer Therapies?

Artemisinin is a natural substance that occurs in the leaves and flowers of the mugwort (Artemisia annua).
Artemisinin has been used in the treatment of malaria for many years.

Cancer cells need more iron than healthy cells because of their rapid growth and division. Compared to healthy cells, they can therefore absorb more iron in a shorter time and have higher iron concentrations inside the cell.
Artemisinin binds to iron and is taken up with it in the cancer cell. Here it reacts with the iron molecules to form free radicals that kill the cancer cells.

This process is very specific to cancer cells. In other words, healthy cells are hardly affected because their iron content is not abnormally increased.

In addition to the direct effect on cancer cells, studies have shown that artemisinin improves the impact of immune cells on cancer cells.

Studies show that artemisinin is effective against uterine cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer, leukemia, breast cancer, colon cancer, lymphoma, and many others.

Artemisinin is well-tolerated. I only use it intravenously and recommend using it as an additive with other substances.
