Carboplatin was found in 1972 and is a platinum-based anti-cancer drug. It is used to treat various types of cancer. That includes ovarian cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, and brain cancer.
Carboplatin can be used alone or in combination with other medications. Depending on your medical condition, body size and response to therapy, the doctor will define the dosage. Usually, Carboplatin is given every 4 weeks.
Carboplatin is usually given by infusion. It interferes with the DNA and blocks cell growth and division.

- antibiotics (e.g., gentamicin, neomycin)
- amphotericin B
- anti-seizure medications (hydantoins such as phenytoin)
- diuretics (furosemide, bumetanide, ethacrynic acid)
If you are a woman, you should avoid becoming pregnant during treatment and for some time afterward. Please consult your doctor for more information. Breastfeeding while receiving Carboplatin is not recommended. The drug might pass into breast milk.
